FAQs & Disclaimers
Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
One of the benefits of online therapy (teletherapy) is that you can achieve the same effective results as in-person therapy, all from the comfort of your own home.
You might feel more at ease discussing your feelings and experiences in the familiar environment of your own space. Online therapy offers a sense of anonymity that can encourage you to express yourself more freely.
Accessing therapy from anywhere with an internet connection makes it that much easier for clients to maintain a regular schedule of sessions, contributing to better therapeutic outcomes.
What is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate?
A Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) is a mental health professional who has completed a graduate degree in counseling and is provisionally licensed to practice counseling under a supervisor approved by the licensing state (Texas).
LPCAs have passed their state board examinations for licensure and are working towards completing 3,000 hours of supervised counseling to apply for full licensure in Texas (LPC).
LPCAs offer support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to help clients address various mental health concerns, fostering personal growth and well-being.
Where do I attend my appointments?
All sessions are conducted online through a private and secure HIPAA-compliant portal. Once you have booked an appointment, you will receive an email with instructions on accessing the portal for your scheduled appointment.
NOTE: Since these are online sessions, clients must have a reliable internet connection.
Do you accept insurance?
Unfortunately, as an LPC associate, I am currently unable to accept insurance. However, I can provide you with a superbill.
A superbill is a document submitted to your insurance company to seek reimbursement for obtaining out-of-network services.
Please check with your insurance provider to determine your plan's Out-of-Network benefits.
Do you only work with women of color?
I work with individuals of all genders and ethnicities; I do not exclusively work with women of color.
I have experience working with clients from different backgrounds, and I welcome those interested in working with me to reach out and schedule a consultation to see if we'll be a good fit! :)
Do you work with children?
I currently provide services to individuals 16 years of age or older.
If you are a parent or legal guardian inquiring about services on behalf of a minor, please email me for more information.
